My immersive, multimedia installation at Open House of History, 908 Main St., Waldoboro, Maine, tells the story of the working waterfront along the midcoast region.
I drew life-sized portraits of four fishermen and a community scientist, then recorded video life stories that are projected onto their portraits. This allows them to tell visitors about the work they do, the immense pleasure they get from the sea and its creatures, and the toll their labor takes on their bodies. The portraits located in the center of a room, are surrounded by a soundscape I cerated of the working waterfront, historical and contemporary photographs and wall text created by my collaborator, Michael Amico, director of Open House of History.
